Like most undergraduates, I've been puzzled by what qualities employers are looking for in their applicants. How to write an efficient, compelling cover letter and a concise, themed resume? What is the best way to behave, dress, walk, and speak during the interview; how to make business phone calls and construct memos on the job? Most students cannot capture the essence of these key issues until someone with years of interviewing experience shows them how. CS MP achieves exactly this: It gives us students an open and in-depth view of the professional work environment and connects us with our own potential by teaching the practical skills of job-hunting and daily professional work. And do you know what is better? The idea behind writing the self-introduction also works when you are writing a personal statement to Western post-graduate school! So grab your thirst to learn and apply… You might even win an internship interview with China Solutions, as I did! Zhang Yinuo, University of Virginia Masters in Law '13
The CS Mentor Program offered me the opportunity to bond with successful lawyers who had graduated from top tier law schools and had years of experience working in leading international law firms. The head of the CS Mentor Program strives to create a forum in which law students can get their career development questions answered and hone their skills to survive in top law firms. I learned concrete strategies for preparing for law school which guided me through the application process and inspired me in drafting my personal statement. Thanks to the program, I am now an active member of the New York Bar Association and recently started my professional career as an associate at a boutique law firm.

In 2007, more than twenty candidates applied to take part in the CS Mentor Program. I was lucky enough to become a member of the Program and even luckier to complete the Program. If you have never studied or worked abroad, the Program is somewhat like a preparatory class you must take before working for MNCs or foreign law firms. In the Program you will learn a lot of things that are never taught in college, but are essential for you to start your career, such as the western logical thinking style, organized and consistent writing methods, and sophisticated job-hunting skills. Besides, you will have a lot of fun in the Program making friends with your peers, the mentor and even Scout, the mentor's dog. Don't miss the Program!

First of all, the Mentor Program equips you with necessary skills to help you enter the job market. It introduces the best approach to write a resume and a cover letter, explains both basic and strategic etiquette for an interview and gives thoughtful instructions on how to compose a professional e-mail. All of the above will surely make you stand out from your competitors. What’s more, apart from the practical skills, the Mentor Program will also enlighten you spiritually. We discussed the importance of independent thinking. I learned that to keep thinking and to keep asking is the everlasting source of progress. I also learned to look at myself before trying to interpret other people’s words or actions. To sum up, the mentoring program was really of great significance to my development and growth, both professionally and mentally.

As a student, I realized that I badly needed practical and professional training in addition to my university education. The CS Mentor Program taught me not only how to write a professional e-mail, cover letter and resume, how to make a business telephone call, and how to perform well when applying for a job, but also taught me self-examination and new thought processes. I will always remember some key lessons from the CS Mentor Program: learn to ask why, and always give back. What’s more, I made strong bonds with my fellow mentees; the friendship between is certain to grow as our careers develop. For me, the inspiration was the core value of the CS Mentor Program.
